Official Ours!

4/2/2009

We have officially added a new little one to our family. Nina Louise Post joined our family on April 2, 2009 at 2pm (Ukranian time)/ 6am (Texas time.) We are still amazed at the power of prayer. The court hearing was a breeze, like the SDA meeting. When everyone said that they "support this decision" from the SDA to the judge, we felt washed with God's blessing. We were both so very nervous going into the hearing. We had to wait in the hallway for a little while, then we were asked to enter the court room. Jordan was outnumbered... nine women, one man! (His palms were sweaty, but I don't think that had anything to do with all of the women in the room!) We answered all of the questions about our family, house, income, plan of treatment for Nina's condition, how the kids back home will receive Nina in her condition, extended family, who will raise Nina and take care of her (noted that Jordan will be working, so who else?), professions. It was intimidating, but I felt some reassurance in the facial expressions of the judge. She actually joked about one of our answers... why do you want to adopt a child? We responded that some friends of ours had adopted and their experience opened our hearts to children that need homes. She said, "So is it in fashion to adopt?" So, funny. We all giggled and cleared up the confusion. The judge left the room after the questioning and returned in about 60 seconds... formality, we think. She gave us the congratulations and everyone relaxed. They all said congratulations! Then, they all went on about their day. We were left to congratulate each other (Jordan and I) and left the court room to do more paperwork, meet with a notary. Now, we are off to see Nina and leave her some gifts. We will explain that I will return in a few days to get her. Wow! God is good... we are now a family of six and two sabaki! Thanks to you for your continued prayers... we leave for Kiev tonight for additional paperwork there. More to come...
